Criminal Registrants

The Charlotte County Corrections Bureau will now process Criminal Registrations at the new Work Release Center beginning Monday October 06, 2008. The hours for this service will be from 0600 to 0800 in the morning and 1800 to 2000 at night, seven (7) days per week.

SHERIFF CAMERON GRADUATES FOUR NEW K9 UNITS

Alexander, Franko, Skau and Robbins Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Cameron graduated four new K9 units on Feb. 17 from Sarasota, DeSoto, and Charlotte County Sheriff’s Offices. Sheriff Cameron said, “You are embarking, no pun intended, for a very important task with your Sheriff’s departments that is usually an eight year commitment.”

This CCSO K9 Academy class started Oct. 12, 2009 with Sgt. John Heck Jr. and Cpl. Leonard Prevatte as lead instructors. The new K9’s receive 400 hours of patrol training and an additional 160 hours in drug training. Sheriff Cameron presented graduation certificates to the following K9 officers: CCSO DFC Deryk Alexander and Ayko; CCSO DFC Sean Franko and Azor; SCSO Dep. Kevin Skau and Hiro; and DCSO Deputy Johnathan Robbins and Joey.

Monday, August 31, 2009 to Friday, April 30, 2010 - HR 218 Qualifications

Retired Law Enforcement Officers who would like to qualify through HR 218 may do so at the Sheriff's Office Gun Range by appointment. The cost is $50.00. The next available dates are October 17, December 19, January 23, March 13, and April 24. The times will be either 8:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. Please call Linda Verwey at 941-833-6281 for an appointment.
